Just like most first time parents, Saab Magalona and husband Jim Bacarro had been nervous but also excited to become parents to their twins. Saab wasn’t even able to attend her sister Maxene’s wedding in Boracay last January 11 due to her pregnancy.
Weeks later, Saab gave birth to the twins but nearly died bringing them to the world. She had been in and out of the intensive care unit (ICU), she recently revealed.
But while that was really bad news, the worst thing was losing her baby girl; her son is currently still in neonatal ICU, fighting hard for his life.
After nearly a month of staying silent about their ordeal, Saab and Jim finally revealed the difficult challenge they had to go through. On the 9th death anniversary of her father Francis Magalona, Saab shared a photo of a freshly covered grave, in a spot right next to the late rapper’s grave.
“I’ve stayed silent because I think I’ve been in denial. I thought keeping it to ourselves would make this whole thing unreal and I almost didn’t make it.
On February 8, we lost our baby girl. Our baby boy is still in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.”
Saab did not reveal what actually happened and why the girl died or why the baby boy is still in NICU and she nearly lost her life; however, the couple chose to remain positive.
“So many things happened in the last month. There are so many people we could blame and be angry with, but each time we hold our boy, we think otherwise. He’s been fighting to be part of this world and it’s our responsibility to make it one that is forgiving — one that tries to see the best in other people.”
Losing a child is definitely something very difficult to accept but Saab said she is announcing the loss not just because she really couldn’t keep the matter a secret for so long but also because she needs to honor her daughter and her memory.
“She was such a beautiful girl and we believe she gave her life for me and her twin brother,” she added.
Saab hopes that she, Jim, and their baby boy could make it past this trial. The child has already undergone surgery and is doing much better now.
“We are taking it one day at a time, focusing on all the good things we are blessed with. I am still alive, I have a strong and loving husband, and God has shown us so many miracles through our little boy.”
Rest in peace, little angel. We pray that your little brother will survive…
