Sunshine Cruz prefers boys outside show business to be the boyfriends of her girls. The mother of three claimed she based it on her own experience and believes they would enjoy a normal life if they stay in a relationship with non-showbiz partners.
In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph) during the farewell press conference for ABS-CBN’s drama series “Wildflower” last January 31, Sunshine said it would be better for her daughters to have boyfriends who are non-showbiz personalities. However, she claimed not too soon as they are still young and she still considers them as her babies.
Apparently, her eldest is only 16 years old, the second is 13 and the youngest is 12. None among Angeline Isabelle, Angel Franchesca, and Samantha Angeline has a boyfriend as of the moment.
But Sunshine knew that time will come when her daughters will have a crush and eventually be in a relationship. The Kapamilya star said she is very open to entertaining their suitors provided they would come to their house and prove their clean intentions.
As a mother, she would have wanted that all of them be honest with her just like what she did when she got separated from estranged husband Cesar Montano in 2013. She claimed she wanted them to be open in sharing their feelings so she would be able to guide them.
“Yun ang naging deal ko nung maging single ako, ‘We have to be honest with each other, whatever you feel, so that I can explain things to you and vice versa.”
“‘If someone is courting Mommy, I’ll let you know, I’ll show the photos.”
“Ganun kami. Ever since, we’re open. And it’s working.”
Meanwhile, Sunshine confirmed that Cesar Montano is still in constant communication with their children.
Sunshine was married to Cesar for 13 years before they got separated in 2013. Aside from seeking annulment which is still pending in court, she also sued him for marital rape.
Sunshine is now in a romantic relationship with businessman Macky Mathay and had celebrated their second anniversary as a couple in September of last year.
