After a month-long holiday to the United States in the wake of her controversial open letter expressing her frustrations towards her fans, 22-year-old internet sensation Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza or well-known as Maine Mendoza finally returned to the longest-running noontime show “Eat Bulaga” on the very first day of 2018, January 1, Monday.
Her absence for almost three weeks made her fans conclude that this would be the end of the AlDub love team that is why studio audiences as well as Maine and AlDub fans went crazy with her comeback; hashtags “#ALDUB2018” and “Maine” went trending all over the internet.
According to Philippine News, David, the manager of Maine said that she just needed a complete rest from her busy schedule that’s why she took a break for weeks and to celebrate the holidays. Furthermore, he reminded fans to become more considerate of her feelings knowing that Maine wasn’t originally a showbiz personality.
Speaking with Inquirer, David denied the rumors that Maine will be transferring to another network following her controversial letter and confirmed that her movie with loveteam partner, Alden was pushing through; however, there will be changes in the concept.
Maine rose her fame after being hailed as the “Dubsmash Queen” by the netizens after several videos of her Dubsmash went viral on Facebook. She later became a talent in the Kalyeserye portion of Eat Bulaga as Yaya Dub.
