Two nursing grads from Cebu City, Philippines, passed the board exams, the results of which were released on Tuesday, December 12, but they never even had the chance to celebrate because they both died just hours before the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the exam results.
Louis Ferolin and Alexa Eddy Carvajal had attended a ‘despida’ party and were on their way home at dawn on Tuesday when the SUV driven by Louis slammed into the flyover at Brgy. Luz in the city. According to the police investigation, it was considered a ‘self-accident’ as there were no other vehicles at or near the flyover at the time the two met the accident.
The two were rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center but were both declared dead on arrival.
There was no point in blaming anyone about the accident as the two have been close friends since college and hating someone would not bring them back to life anyway, said Alexa’s mother Daphne.
But Alexa’s dad Eddy could not help but express his grief over the accident, saying it was very painful for him to lose his second daughter, especially on the same day they learned that she passed the board exams.
It was a bittersweet moment for the family, but the day was more painful than happy as they ended up grieving instead of celebrating what could have been a joyous moment.
The cops have not released the exact reason for the accident and whether alcohol was involved but reminded the public to be extra careful on the road, especially during the holiday and rainy season.
Netizens expressed their condolences to the family of the two nursing grads who are now registered nurses.
