Yet again, Jollibee released another heartfelt commercial with this year’s theme being: “Christmas Gift for all our hardworking OFWs and their families”.
The commercial aired last Friday and since then, Pinoy netizens couldn’t help but relate to the extraordinary story featured.
The story begins with an OFW couple working in Dubai, with the wife as a housemaid and the husband as a chauffeur.
Their son, however, is growing up in the Philippines with his grandparents. And each year they’re away from him, the couple send a balikbayan box to their son every Christmas, sometimes even selling their personal possessions.
One day, however, they receive a text message from their now-teenage son, “I wish I can get what I’ve been waiting for this Christmas.”
The story becomes a real tearjerker when the OFW couple returns to the Philippines and sees their grown-up son at the airport. After an overwhelming welcome, the lola then reveals that ‘he finally got what he’s been wishing for’.
So many families, here and abroad, truly relate with the feeling of reuniting as a family. Out of the 365 days in the year, OFW families can cherish special moments, this and every holiday season, with their families.
Jollibee reminds us that ‘every Christmas, thousands of Overseas Filipino Workers come home to the Philippines because nothing compares to the joy of Christmas.’
The video got 3 million views on Facebook and netizens can’t hold back their emotions in the comment section.
“Nakakaiyak. Naiyak ako sa kunwari masaya sa picture ganyan na ganyan kasi feeling ko masaya lang sa picture pero in real life sobrang lungkot pala malayo sa mga taong mahal mo,” said one netizen.
“So touching..relate ako dito..masaya sa picture pero sobrang lungkot sa totoo..di namn kasi pwedeng umiyak ‘pag nagpa.picture..kunwari ok lang ang work pero sobrang hirap talaga..mabuhay ang ating mga OFW sa ibat ibang bansa,” said another.
