Last Wednesday, the Fil-Am model-actress, Liza Soberano, has been named the world’s “most beautiful face” by a group of British critics.
Soberano scored the top of the list of the Independent Critics’ annual list of “The 100 Most Beautiful Faces” for 2017. French model-actress Thylane Blonde and Japanese singer Tzuyu made it on second and third places, respectively.
Soberano continues to summit Philippine cinema and entertainment. The model-actress is currently working on the role of the iconic Filipino heroine, Darna.
She placed in sixth place in 2015 and placed second last year for the “100 Most Beautiful Faces” list, after the British model Jourdan Dunn.
Soberano also placed ahead of other Filipino actresses this year: Kathryn Bernardo in the 60th spot, Jessy Mendiola in 71st, Nadine Lustre in 78th, and Kim Domingo in 96th.
According to Independent Critics, the list is not solely based on physical appearance.
“Aesthetic perfection is only one of the criteria,” said on their website. “Grace, elegance, originality, daring, passion, class, poise, joy, promise, hope…they are all embodied in a beautiful face.”
The group also oversees the “100 Most Handsome Faces”. This year’s edition includes Fil-Aussie actor and recording star, James Reid, at fourth place. Korean pop star Kim Taehyung snatched first, while American actors, Jason Momoa and Armie Hammer, placed second and third, respectively.
Since 1990, the Independent Critics have been creating the annual list under the leadership of the British film critic, TC Candler.
According to TC Candler, his lists arranged by his organization The Independent Critics are “not a popularity contest. Rather, it attempts to inform and broaden public opinion instead of reflecting it.”
