In an interview with PEP.ph on December 20, National Youth Commission chairperson Aiza Seguerra appealed again to the public to respect his decision with regards to his gender preference. He then emphasized that he is a transgender man and that he should be addressed properly.
In his Instagram account, Aiza had posted a shout out addressed to his family and friends saying he had preferred to be identified as a transgender man. He claimed being born in a body of a woman yet he considered himself as a man.
Maybe I need to come out quarterly dito sa IG Dear Family and Friends, I am a TRANSGENDER MAN. Ibig sabihin, pinanganak man akong may vagina, I identify myself as a man. Gets? TRANSMAN po yun. May ilang taon na rin ang nakakalipas when I first came out. Yes, I came out as transman 3 times already. May iba siguro sa inyo ang hindi pa nakakaalam but mas maraming alam na 'to. This is just a reminder. PLEASE REFRAIN from calling me ATE, TITA, SIS, NINANG (mga inaanak, subukan niyong tawagin akong ninang, I swear wala kayong regalo sa pasko), SENYORA, MA'AM, at ang favorite ko sa lahat MADAME. Huwag din po gamitin ang she, her, at kung ano pa. This is how I see myself and I would appreciate if people around me, especially family and friends, will respect that. If you do not understand kung ano ang transman, PM me and I will gladly explain. Also, please CALL ME ICE. Yes. ICE. Yun lang po. Maraming salamat!
In fact, Aiza had come out three times to the public several years ago admitting he is a transman. He said some people might know it already but then it would be better if everybody gets informed.
Being identified as a transman, Aiza also reminded everyone to refrain from calling him using terms to address a female.
“This is just a reminder. PLEASE REFRAIN from calling me ATE, TITA, SIS, NINANG (mga inaanak, subukan niyong tawagin akong ninang, I swear wala kayong regalo sa pasko), SENYORA, MA’AM, at ang favorite ko sa lahat MADAME. Huwag din po gamitin ang she, her, at kung ano pa.”
He emphasized that’s the way he sees himself and would appreciate if people around him, his family and friends would respect him.
Aiza preferred to be called “ICE”.
Aiza admitted being a lesbian in the year 2012. In 2014, he made a public announcement stating he is a transgender man. He then married actress Liza Diño in the same year.
In a previous TV interview, Liza shared that she and Aiza had been talking about doing what Jake Zyrus did. She admitted having fears but then she said she would support Aiza for all his decisions and would be very happy to see the joy in him just like what Jake had experienced when he got the freedom that he wanted to be recognized as a man.
