She said that her friend was on the way home from his On-The-Job Training in Mall of Asia. When he reached Gatchalian and walked towards the terminal, an elderly man who seemed to have trouble in walking approached him and asked him if he knows a vehicle repair shop nearby because their truck broke down and they need to deliver the products inside the car because if not, he won’t receive his salary.

Out of pity,  Jophet went with him and asked around. When they reached a 7-11 branch, they met another man, who seemed to be an accomplice. The elderly man approached the other man and asked the same question and he answered that he knows a car repair shop.

They stopped in Salvador Village and the other man phone called his “brother-in-law”. After the call, he informed Jophet and the elderly man that he was able to bargain the repair price from 15,000 pesos to 10,000. Then the suspect pulled out a bulgy handkerchief that he handed to the young man, he said that it contains 15,000 pesos in cash. So the agreement was the 10,000 pesos was for the payment for the repair and the remaining 5,000 pesos they will fairly split it.

Since the young man was holding the ‘money’ the elder man asked him and the accomplice’s cellphone and wallet just to make sure that they will not run the money away. So the young man followed what he was instructed and he was lenient because the other man gave his belongings.

The suspect instructed the victim to meet up near the underpass in front of a bakery. He was asked to head first to the area but, unfortunately, they did not show up. After a few minutes of waiting, the young man came to his senses and hurriedly went back to where he last saw the two suspects but they were already gone.
