Lovers from Baguio City Get Engaged in Cemetery

Typical proposals are done in restaurants, mountain top with a sunset background, beach, garden with matching a planned surprise made by the guy for his soon-to-be-bride but one couple had their proposal in the least likely option for a proposal but this guy’s gesture was indeed sweet and memorable.

Lovers Julienne Fortunato and Silas Lobchoy Jr. had their engagement last September 24 in one of the cemeteries in Baguio City, Philippines.

Julienne didn’t expect that her boyfriend will propose in the cemetery and she admits that she felt mixed emotions because of all places, her boyfriend of 11 years chose to propose in front of her father’s grave.

“Nagulat talaga ako. Hindi ko ini-expect na dito siya magpo-propose… Naghalong tuwa, touched, na of all places, ito yung pinili niyang lugar,” Julienne told Abs-Cbn News.

(I was really surprised. I didn’t expect that he will propose here. [I feel] happy, touched because of all places, he chose to propose here.)

Silas told Abs-Cbn News that he had several options where to propose, one of these are in a romantic restaurant – where the usual proposals are held but it’s always ‘family comes first’ to his girlfriend.

Julienne’s family always goes to her father’s grave every Sunday to celebrate his living that made Silas opt to propose at the cemetery – to give respect to her family especially her late father.

Their love story started when they were in high school.

“Julienne, nag-promise ako sa father mo dito sa grave na I’ll take care of you. Hiningi ko sa kanya, and of course kay god, na i-guide tayo para sa future natin ay mas maging masaya at kumpleto ang pamilya,” Silas told Julienne.

(Julienne, I promised to your father in front of his grave that I will take care of you. I asked his and of course, the Lord God’s guidance for our future- to be happy and for us to have a complete family.)
