Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong Remain Proud of Daughter Mariel Despite Defeat in 2017 Miss International Beauty Pageant

Mariel de Leon competed in the recent 57th Miss International Beauty Pageant on November 14, 2017, held in Tokyo, Japan. Mariel was unable to win the crown and Kevin Lilliana from Indonesia became Kylie Versoza’s successor at the end of the event.

Mariel de Leon is the daughter of veteran actors Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong. Despite her defeat, her parents expressed their support and belief that Mariel still has a better future ahead of her.

Sandy thanked Mariel’s supporters who were there for her since the beginning of the pageant.

“Sa lahat ng kapwa Pilipino nating sumuporta, who truly cared for our daughter Mariel, who have been there from the very beginning, maraming maraming salamat sa inyong lahat.”

“This is just the beginning for Mariel. Hindi dito nagtatapos.”

“She’s looking forward to many things. There are many things ahead of her.”

On the other hand, Mariel’s father, Christopher de Leon proudly revealed that she is currently doing a movie with Coco Martin.

Even if Mariel was unable to bring home the crown, Christopher said she is still the Bb. Pilipinas International and they remained proud of her.

“She’s still shooting the movie with Coco. There’s more to come.”

“She’s still the Bb. Pilipinas International.”

“We are very proud of her.”

Sandy concluded that their daughter had given all her best not only for herself, for her family, but also to bring pride and honor to the Philippines.

“She really worked hard not only for the family or for herself but more for the country.”

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Mariel shared that her experience made her stronger, wiser and smarter as she learned to fight harder for her dreams and goals.

Mariel also said she learned a lot from her experience.

  “I made a lot of relationships with the other girls here and I am really proud of how far we’ve all come. I’m going to put this in my good memories.”
