OFW Converts to Islam to Marry His Mistress Who’s Actually His Wife’s Cousin

Muslims are permitted to have more than one wife, as long as they can provide for both families while this is against the law for Christians and other non-Muslims.

But what if you fall in love with someone else after getting married? Well, the answer to that is that you just can’t act on that love just because you want another person.

In the Philippines, there is no divorce. While couples can file for annulment, the process is more tedious and difficult compared with divorce because unlike in divorce, you just can’t say you have broken up due to irreconcilable differences.

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) has seemingly found a loophole in this by converting to Islam so he could marry his mistress. His outraged legal wife went to Raffy Tulfo to seek help, revealing that it was truly a huge insult that he converted to Islam so he could take on a second wife who turned out to be the first wife’s cousin!

The OFW named Jimmy Grafane left his wife Jocelyn Grafane and their kids to be with his mistress. Because she could find no other way to communicate with him, Jocelyn turned to Tulfo’s program for help.

Jocelyn claimed that her husband and cousin had a relationship even before she and her husband had broken up. She also alleged that her husband did this because he’s after her cousin’s money because the latter has a high position in the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Jimmy agreed with the financial issue but claimed that Jocelyn does not know how to handle money and wasn’t even able to put up savings even when he had spent many years as OFW.

While Jimmy insisted that his second marriage is valid because he’s now a Muslim, Jocelyn said she will file a bigamy case against him and adultery charges against her cousin because she had not given consent to their marriage.

Netizens also sided with Jocelyn, despite her shortcomings as a wife; after all, no matter how modern people have become these days, the Philippines is still a rather conservative country and Filipinos still frown upon those who commit adultery, especially with their partner’s relatives.

But the Grafanes aren’t the only one with the same problem. On the show, another couple also went through a similar situation, with the wife complaining about her OFW husband’s conversion to Islam to marry his mistress, a public school teacher…
