A branch of Jollibee in Carmen, Pangasinan has earned praises from netizens for throwing a surprise party for a 76-year-old vendor who sells kakanin outside the branch.
Rain or shine, ever since her husband died in 1978, Lola Belen has been selling kakanin in Carmen, Pangasinan – even before the Jollibee branch opened in the area. When the Jollibee Carmen store was opened, Lola Belen would become a regular face at the parking area, selling tupig, peanuts, and chicharon.
It was through selling kakanin that Lola Belen was able to feed her family, providing for her two children’s needs. But even now that Eva and Carmelita have families of their own, their mother continues to sell kakanin to earn extra cash, also helping provide for her four grandchildren.
To honor the sacrifices of a hardworking, loving grandmother, Jollibee Carmen decided to throw a surprise party for Lola Belen on Grandparents’ Day. They invited Lola Belen, her two children and four grandchildren, providing them a feast for this joyous occasion.
Of course, Jollibee was there to welcome Lola Belen and honor her for being a special grandmother.
The family enjoyed a feast while Jollibee looked on.
The family was certainly happy for the surprise party but we’re quite sure Lola Belen is the happiest and proudest of all. She was seen crying tears of joy as she realized that the branch had thrown her a party.
Isn’t this sweet?
