I ASK WHY? AND I ASK WHY? THEN, I ASK WHY? AGAIN, I ASK WHY?
MY DAUGHTER WAS STABBED TO DEATH SEVEN TIMES, WHY?
BECAUSE SOME US VALUE THE LIFE OF AN ADDICT NOT THE VICTIM, WHY???
I HAVE MANY WHY’S ???
These were the angry questions asked by grieving dad Niño Piñero whose pregnant daughter was stabbed to death in Siquijor, because she was trying to protect a teenager who was stabbed by a drug-crazed suspect.
Four months pregnant, Nikki Piñero ran to rescue 17-year-old Loreen Ramirez who was being stabbed by 34-year-old Michael Añabesa Manayon but the drug-crazed suspect turned to her and also stabbed her seven times!
The shocking incident happened last Sunday night at a private residence near a resort in Barangay Solangon, San Juan, Siquijor where the suspect and the victims’ boyfriends participated in an international longboard competition.
According to some witnesses, Manayon was angry because he lost to Ramirez’s boyfriend and was also afraid that they would tell on him for keeping marijuana. Instead of directly dueling with Ramirez’s boyfriend, Manayon who hails from Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu, chose to stab the teen.
Piñero’s friend Carla Jean (not her real name) saw how Manayon stabbed Ramirez; she screamed for Piñero to run away as she also hid but the pregnant woman was so concerned of what could happen to the teen that she run towards the suspect, instead.
The two were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
Cops were called to the scene even as Manayon walked restlessly outside, even screaming that he wanted to be shot by the police, Carla Jean recalled. He was immediately apprehended; cops revealed he had marijuana but other witnesses said he was taking LSD, a powerful hallucinogenic drug.
Devastated over his pregnant daughter’s death, Niño Piñero posted on Facebook a heartbreaking call for justice as he questioned why there are people who value the life of an addict more than the victim.
What’s even devastating is that this incident came just days after the CBCP announced that Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle will wash the feet of some drug surrenderers this coming Holy Week…
Do you agree with Sir Niño Piñero’s post?
