University of the Visayas New School Offers Dota 2 Course for Senior High School

Many young gamers have been hooked to the world of Dota 2. It is a complex battle arena wherein there are two teams of five players and the main goal is to abolish their rival’s structure, defended by the opposing team.

Would you believe that there’s already a school here in the Philippines for Dota? How cool is that?

The University of The Visayas New School (UVNS) officially opened their E-Sports and game development program through their Senior High Arts and Design track this year.

“We’ll have game strategy for Dota 2 and we will have game design and development animation and 2D and 3D animation, and of course, game creation. After two years, the students can either choose to be game creators, designers, or e-sports players in the professional league” said Genesis Raña, founder and school director of UVNS in an interview with Sunstar

The university will be providing the students gaming equipment like Nacrono gaming keyboard, Sauris gaming mouse, and Poison P8 headsets. They will also provide Oculus Development Kit 2 for the ultimate virtual reality experience.

Under this course, they will be learning theory, mechanics, build strategy and game awareness. Furthermore, they will also learn different skills like game design, branding and entrepreneurship.
