- Fil-Am leader called president a murderer, said he had his chance to prove himself but failed
- She scored him for desist order against VP, urged PH to remain on-guard against Marcoses
- She also called on Duterte to resign, let Robredo become the new president instead
MANILA, Philippines – The Filipino-American widow whom President Rodrigo Duterte earlier accused of plotting to unseat him has joined calls for him to resign amid his desist order against Vice President Leni Robredo.
While again denying any coup plot against the president. US-based Loida Nicolas Lewis said it is time for Duterte to resign as he was a murderer who failed to live up to his promises.
“I was impressed at his sincerity. Then I thought he was sincere, that, what keeps people poor in the Philippines is drugs, corruption and injustice. But now what do I see? He’s killing and killing and killing. I would say he is a murderer in that sense,” she told ABS-CBN. “So his promise I will resign in 6 months if the drug epidemic is not solved, he should be true to that promise at least, no extension, resign now President Duterte.”
Accusing Duterte of pandering to the Marcoses, Lewis said it would be better for him to step down now and let Robredo become president to avoid the prospect of the Marcos family returning to power.
“16 million who voted for Duterte did not vote for Bongbong Marcos. So be careful. We should ask for the resignation of President Duterte now and not wait until Bongbong Marcos succeeds in his nefarious plan to unseat VP Leni Rodredo,” she said. “President Duterte wants Bongbong Marcos to be your president. Matakot kayo, matakot kayo, matapos na magnakaw, magiging silang ruling body again [Be afraid, be afraid, after they looted the country, the Marcoses will be the ruling body again]. Resign now, let VP Leni become president and she will do it for you, without killing anybody.”
