If you’ve been following the ‘war’ between Sen. Leila de Lima and Pres. Rodrigo Duterte (and his men), then you know that she has been accused of receiving drug money from drug lords incarcerated at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa, including the likes of Herbert Colanggo.
Just a few days ago, a self-confessed member of the alleged ‘Davao Death Squad’ testified against Pres. Duterte but people merely laughed at most of his testimony, calling him a fake witnessed coached by de Lima.
Today, Colanggo (often misspelled as Colangco) took the witness stand during the congressional probe, testifying that Sen. de Lima received money from him – amounting to millions! Despite the story sounding incredulous from a neutral viewpoint, many social media users could not help but comment how natural Colanggo tells his story; this made him appear to be a credible witness in the eyes of the public.
While detailing how de Lima received money from him through her bagman and also through her driver, Colanggo revealed that he actually has a money transfer receipt to prove that the transaction occurred! When asked whether he still has the receipt, Colanggo turned to his lawyer and said, “Attorney, ang resibo. (The receipt, Attorney.)”
Colanggo probably didn’t mean to make it sound like a joke but the room erupted in laughter, anyway!
